A variety of pre made workbenches are available to fit your needs. If you prefer, you can make your own workbench, either with a kit or from a plan.
Choosing a garage workbench
Workbenches are available in a wide variety of sizes and styles. Benches are great for woodworking, crafts and other household projects. You can purchase a bench at most home improvement stores. Another option is to build your own bench. You can find plans in books and on the internet with instructions to create the perfect bench to suit your needs.
A table style workbench is made of heavy duty materials to stand up to regular use. Most models have a hardwood top with metal legs. Table tops can also be made of steel. These resemble a typical table shape with nothing underneath.
Cabinet style benches have drawers or cabinets in the space under the table top. This is great for utilizing otherwise wasted space. This method allows for additional storage space. Some have a pegboard backing that is perfect for hanging hand tools. You wont need to dig through drawers or a tool box to find what you need.
A power strip bench is a good choice if you use power tools often. These come with up to nine outlets in a strip with a heavy duty power cord. They also have current protection to prevent overload. These can be either six or eight foot benches. Some have a tool caddy to hold smaller tools.
Build Your Own Workbench
Consider building your own bench to get exactly what you want. Kits are available with everything you need to create your bench. Instructions and materials are included with the kit. With this method, you will be limited to the kits design. The benefit is that all pieces are pre cut. You wont need to worry about uneven cuts.
You can build your own bench and purchase all the materials. This method is a bit more complicated, but you have more control about the final outcome. Free workbench plans are available on the internet with detailed instructions for you to follow. Cut the plywood according to the directions and be sure to make your cuts straight.
For best results, choose good quality wood, oak or a hardwood plywood is an excellent choice. Use several coats of polyurethane to protect the top of the bench. Be sure to sand between each coat. A good urethane coating makes messes easier to clean up when working on projects later.
Organizing and Making Room in your Garage
You will need to organize your garage and create storage space to make room for workbenches. Determine what you need to store. Start with a good clean out and get rid of things you dont need. Throw away old paint and other junk. Give away or donate old items, tools or other things that are too good to throw away, but that you dont need any more.
The walls of your garage offer great opportunities for storage space. Cabinets are great for organizing clutter. High cabinets are good for storing chemicals and paints. Sharp items can be put up high to keep them away from children. Consider locks if you have young children. Locker cabinets are perfect for larger items. Drawers are good for organizing tools, fishing equipment and other small items.

Recently, a trend has developed in high schools and communities around the United States. Many people want to or are now learning the Chinese language. This could be a good turn of events, but it can also be problematic. This is particularly so for those who know nothing about Chinese culture, history and the state of affairs in China today.
In mainland China they no longer use the traditional Chinese characters that go hand in hand with Chinese history. For some reason, the Chinese Communist Party decided to alter the Chinese language and thereby change the vehicle for written communication.
For the best Maths Tutor In Ireland company, call Ace Solution Books. Traditional Chinese characters evolved naturally over a period of time from pictographs or small drawings. By contrast the simplified Chinese created by the Chinese Communist Party has watered many of the traditional characters down to the point that they no longer are rooted in more ancient traditions.
Here is an example. The traditional Chinese character for the word ‘love’ contains a picture of a heart in it. This makes sense because love is closely associated to the heart. Not so in simplified Chinese. There is no heart in the word ‘love’ in simplified Chinese. One may ponder how you can love without a heart.
Just as this example shows, in many ways the Chinese Communist Party has removed the heart of the entire language, distorting and altering it into a water downed version of its former self. In Taiwan, however, they still use traditional characters.
So if your community or children’s school is planning to teach Chinese, you may wish to ensure that you are getting the traditional variety. It more fully encompasses the rich history of China and the Chinese people. By contrast, those who teach our children simplified Chinese are from mainland China and unfortunately, they will also be passing on the values and ideas of the Chinese Communist Party. Whether they do so on purpose or automatically as a result of growing up in that environment, the end result is the same. Only you can decide if you want the influence of the Chinese Communist Party imparted to your children.
Be sure to insist that our children are taught traditional Chinese and not the simplified version. This way the richness of traditional Chinese culture can be more fully enjoyed and appreciated. There will be a more solid foundation to understand the more ancient Chinese traditions.

Laminate flooring is a synthetic alternative to wood flooring. Laminate flooring was not sold in the United States until about 1996, but it has been sold in European countries for about 20 years.
Laminate flooring is made up of several layers:
The surface is a hard as nails film, normally made of aluminum oxide. Right underneath the surface film is a photographic image or decor paper (usually of wood), to give the flooring the look of a natural wood floor. The core of laminate flooring is made of various materials, most often high density fiberboard, or wood particle board. The final layer of laminate flooring is the backing, made of various materials. Backings made of laminate material are superior as far as water or moisture damage is concerned.
Laminate flooring may be installed over any kind of sub floor, as it is not directly attached to the sub floor, but is a floating floor. Many laminate flooring manufacturers use a click system on the tongue and groove joints, so you can just fit the joints together and you are ready to go. Other manufacturers require you to glue the pieces of flooring together, but in either case, you do not need to nail the floor to the sub floor.
If you are laying the laminate flooring directly over a concrete sub floor, you’ll need to lay down a damp proof membrane, a.k.a. DPM, before laying the flooring. This is to keep moisture from seeping up through the floor into the laminate flooring.
Laminate flooring has quite a few benefits: affordability, low maintenance, ease of installation, attractive looks, and more. It also has a few drawbacks, though: it’s not as durable as real wood, doesn’t absorb sound well, doesn’t feel as warm to your cold feet on winter mornings, and may warp if it is exposed to moisture.

Are you one the many homeowners in America who would like to do a little bit of remodeling? When it comes to remodeling, one of the rooms most often remodeled is the kitchen.
One of the reasons for that is because there are a number of advantages to having a kitchen remodeled. While there are a number of benefits to kitchen remodeling, there are also a number of disadvantages. These disadvantages are often referred to cons. If you were thinking about remodeling your kitchen, you may be wondering what the main cons of kitchen remodeling are.
Perhaps, the biggest con of remodeling your kitchen is the fact that it costs money. The amount of money needed will depend on how much of your kitchen you plan on remodeling, as well as the supplies and materials that you need or want to purchase. If you make the decision to only replace your kitchen countertops, you will find that it is easier to afford that remodeling project than it is a larger one, such as project that requires the replacement of countertops, cabinets, wall panels, lighting, and floor tiles. While it is always possible to remodel your kitchen on a budget, you may find it a little bit difficult to do. The cost will be relatively high regardless of whether you do your own kitchen remodeling or if you hire a professional.
In addition to the cost of remodeling your kitchen, you will also find that there are a number of other cons or disadvantages. One of those cons is the time that it takes to remodel your kitchen. Regardless of how much of your kitchen you choose to remodel, you will find that it is still time consuming, especially if you do not have any prior remodeling experience. If you have time, this kitchen remodeling con may not even apply to you. However, if you are pressed for time or are tying to remodel your kitchen on the side, you may find it difficult to get it all done in a reasonable amount of time. If this is the case, an alternative that you may want to examine is professional assistance from a remodeling expert.
An added benefit to remodeling the kitchen in you home is that the value of your home could increase; however, the keyword was could. A home will only increase in value if the remodeling job was a success. Any remodeling job that looks unattractive is not likely to increase the value of a home. In fact, the value of the home may even decrease a slight amount, but, possibly, enough to notice. This means that if you are planning on remodeling your own kitchen, you will want to make sure that you do it right. If you do not have any home improvement experience, it may be a good idea to seek professional assistance or at least take a kitchen remodeling course.
Another pro or disadvantage to kitchen remodeling is the fact that it can be unsafe. This con only applies to those who are interested in doing their own kitchen remodeling. One of the reasons why professional remodelers are able to get the job done quicker is because they often have an immeasurable amount of experience with what they are doing. One mistake that many homeowners make, when remodeling their own kitchen, is believing that they can have their kitchen remodeled in the same amount of time as a professional. Unfortunately, this often leads to hurrying; hurrying that could not only affect your work, but hurrying that could also put yourself in danger. Whether you are making yourself a new kitchen counter, replacing your kitchen cabinets, or replacing the lights in your kitchen, kitchen remodeling can be dangerous. That is why it is important that you take your time.
Although there are a number of kitchen remodeling cons, it is also important to note that there are also a number of pros. When it comes to pros and cons, you need to compare the two and decide which could offer you the most benefits. Doing so may help you decide whether or not it would be a good idea for you remodel your kitchen.

ARW 10 Country Do’s and Dont’s

For the best Roof Repairs Wicklow company, call Ace Roofing Wicklow.

When we moved from the big city life to the mountaiARW near Butte, Montana to realize a life long dream of opening the Fish Creek House B&B , I kept my eyes open and my mouth shut and and paid very close attention to other peoples botchery. Personally, Id really rather watch someone else screw up than have to do it myself.

What follows are 10 lessoARW from my now I know better collection. Perhaps these lessoARW learned will ease your traARWition from the city to wilderness.
1. Know thyselves. If you are a couple who bickers over which way to hang the toilet paper roll, dont buy raw land.
The path from raw land to indoor plumbing is fraught with hundreds, if not thousands, of decisioARW. If you cant pull as a team over the little things, how will your relatioARWhip survive decisioARW like where to sink a well (that one can be worth, oh, $20,000), where to put the kitchen, do we buy or rent equipment, do we build a log house or glue it up out of egg cartoARW? We built hte log house to make our Bed and Breakfast dream come true.
We have several guys (one of our neighbors included) sitting around our county amidst their half-finished projects all by themselves because the little woman couldnt handle it and ran off mid-coARWtruction. On the other hand, we have another neighbor couple who knew that they werent cut out for the house building process. They bought undeveloped land and put a manufactured home on it. Save your marriage (or whatever) and buy a house.
2. Know thy neighbors. You may be under the false impression that since you are moving from more crowded to less crowded conditioARW that you will have more privacy and that neighbors matter less. Au contraire.
When looking at rural property, you will find yourself driving down many a dirt road. If there is more than one home on that road, it is a neighborhood, like it or not. Look closely at the homes and residents on that road. If your house catches on fire or you hack your leg off with a chaiARWaw, do you think you can depend on them to help? Fortunately here on our road up to the Fish Creek House, we have the greatest neighbors that’d help you out in the proverbial New York minute
When we were searching the great wilderness for our dream property,we drove down some rural roads that actually triggered the theme from Deliverance in the back of my brain. Find some excuse to go chat up some of the neighbors before you buy. Introduce yourself and ask them how bad the winters are, whatever, just get a feel for the folks you may have to trust with your life and property.
3. Know thy driveway. I rarely see this subject discussed, but in the country, the length of your driveway can make or break the whole experience.
On the other hand, our driveway is a winding 700 feet long. We cant even see the road. We love it. But we also live at about 3000 feet and see a lot of snow all winter. This is OK with us because we have good plowing gear and 4-wheel-drive cars.
It also cost big money to put gravel on that much driveway, which is necessary in our area if you want to use your driveway year-round. We have a neighbor who has been out here for years who had to park at the end of his driveway half the year due to the snow and mud until just last year when he got a 4-wheel drive. A long driveway is great for privacy and air quality, but if you actually want to use it, it will cost you.
4. Dont share. If you are in such a hurry to move that the only way you can afford it is to go in on some property with another buyer, dont. This is a recipe (pardon the pun) for disaster.
5. Kill some trees. We are tree-huggers who moved to the woods. As we wandered around gawking at all the pretty trees, we decided where to build our first building, a 24 x 40-foot shop. By now, we were one with the trees and couldnt bear to part with any of them, so we sited our shop where we could take out the fewest trees.
The trees were happy but now along with Fish Creek running through the property, we have a greenhouse for our organically grown produce, a barn for our horses, round pen and arena. So guests are welcome to bring their equine companioARW.
6. Do the wave. In the city, avoiding eye contact can be a survival skill. Congeniality can get you shot, or at the very least, panhandled.
Not so in the country. Out here, the wave is the primary social currency. Wave at everybody, whether you know them or not. If you see a guy standing by the road holding an axe dripping with blood, smile and wave cheerily. He might be butchering a deer and may choose to share some with you. If you dont wave, you could be Mother Theresa and everyone will think you are growing something illegal in your basement. Which leads me to . . . .
7. You will earn a reputation. The reputation is a quaint concept that no longer applies to the concrete jungle. You can be any kind of scuzzball you want in the city and no one cares. In fact, some people think its cool and theyll probably give you your own TV show.
Out here, you will earn a reputation whether you are a hermit who only comes out once every five years or the mayor. You can care about it or not, but if you ever want to do business, or anything else for that matter, your reputation will precede you, so coARWider how you want to be known. Be aware that anything you say will be held agaiARWt you and it will also be spread all over town.
8. GuARW are part of the culture. GuARW are loud. In rural America, people have guARW and they shoot them. You may no longer have freeway noise in your bedroom, but it could sound like the Battle of Gettysburg in hunting season.
One of the newer residents on our road is a pacifist-tree-hugger-gun-hater.We’re in great hunting territory and even have a shooting range where our resident NRA iARWtructor who also tests guARW and gives shooting clinics. People travel far and wide to attend these as well as to take advantage of having guARWmithing services available . If you cant live with that concept in a rural area, you might be happier either in town, where everyone needs a toilet paper permit to you-know-what, or on a road with (shudder) codes and covenants. At least you know then that your neighbor wont be raising hogs on the property line and shooting them at three in the morning.
9. Petsthe good, the bad, and the ugly. Out here in the hinterlands the term pet food has a whole different meaning. Sure, its great to live someplace where Fido can run free, but just remember, so do the Fido eaters. Lets face it, most of us city traARWplants grew up on a TV diet of articulate, well-dressed animals. But in reality, cougars, coyotes, bears, and even large predatory birds are all on the lookout for a nice fat Fido or clueless cat to snack on. While the thought of Yogi Bear pick-a-nicking on my animal is too gruesome an image for me to entertain, Ive been here long enough to know that the risk is part of the natural life of animals.
10. Electricity is not a fact of life. It is the luck of the draw.
We provincials, especially we of the woodlands, are the recipients of periodic phone and power interruptioARW. Trees fall on lines, alieARW sever them with anti-matter beams. The utilities can even go out for no apparent reason in the middle of summer. Maybe its just a drill. If you have big, full freezers and no backup, you will be having one heck of a steak feed that night.
Go with the flow, is the name of the game when you’re living the country life. Fortunately at the Fish Creek House, we offer a combination of luxury with a taste of the rugged outdoors.

Kids can enjoy making a variety of candle holders for gifts, too. These easy-to-make crafts make a perfect rainy day activity. Try helping your child make these candle holders one day. Give these homemade gifts to teachers or grandparents for a truly personalized gift.
Here are some easy to make candle holders that children can enjoy with a little help.
Supplies needed:
Small tea candle
Empty baby food jar
Colored tissue
Glue and paintbrush
Make a candle holder just the right size for a tea light candle out of a recycled baby food jar. Remove the label from the baby food jar and clean thoroughly. Give your child scraps of brightly colored tissue paper and glue mixed with a little water. Have your child brush the glue on the baby food jar and glue the tissue in pace. When the jar is completely covered with tissue paper, go over the jar again with another layer of glue. Add a tea light candle and you have just created a perfect candle holder gift.
Here is another idea for making a unique candle holder out of soup or vegetable cans.
Supplies needed:
Empty soup can
Hammer and nail
Remove the label off of the can and clean well. If the label on the can is difficult to remove, you can soak the can in warm soapy water and continue to remove the label. After the can is clean, fill it to the top with water and place in the freezer. When the water is frozen, use a hammer and a nail to pound holes into the can. The ice inside the can will help it hold its shape. Be creative with the design. Let the ice melt and place a small candle or tea light candle inside. These candle holders look pretty outside around the holiday season.

It is normal to find mold spores in a homes indoor air and surfaces such as clothes, walls, and furniture. Most of the time mold spores found indoors are from outside sources. Regular housekeeping cleaning helps keep mold levels low. Cleaning small areas of visible mold, like the mold around your shower, is obligatory to maintain sanitary conditions.
When you should be more concerned is when your home has a large-scale of active mold growing. Such problems are most likely to happen when theres been an on-going water leak, flood, or excessively high levels of humidity in the home. Indoor mold growth may lead to high levels of airborne mold spores, which, in turn, can trigger the spread of mold growth from the original source to additional areas of the home having high moisture levels.
Extensive mold growth will damage your home and furnishings, like carpets, sofas and cabinets. Over a period of time, uncontrolled mold growth can even instigate damage to structural elements of your home. While there is no practical way to eliminate all mold and mold spores in the indoor environment, keeping your home clean and dry can avert extensive mold growth and the ensuing damage.
Damage to your home and possessions is not the only reason to be concerned with mold. Although most people are exposed to small amounts of mold or their spores on a daily basis without apparent harm, mold is an unsanitary condition that may present potential health risks to certain individuals.
Possible adverse health effects produced by molds can include allergic, irritating, or toxigenic effects, and even infections, allergic reactions being the most common. Symptoms reported by affected people include: respiratory conditions, such as wheezing, difficulty breathing, and shortness of breath, sneezing and/or nasal congestion, eye and/or throat irritation, headaches and fatigue.
Here are a few tips to keep moisture from becoming a breeding ground in your home for molds.
1. Ensure that bathrooms, dryers and other moisture-creating sources are vented to the outside
2. Take care not to block any of your houses air conditioning vents
3. Install de-humidifiers in basements and crawlspaces.
4. Use your kitchens exhaust fans when cooking
5. Install insulation on cold surfaces like piping, air ducts or basement walls to lessen possibilities of condensation
6. Install moisture sensor alarms in potential water back-up and overflow areas to alert you when a leak occurs.

HDL, LDL, triglycerides – the acronyms and terms of the cholesterol debate are becoming part of our everyday language.
Americans are bombarded with reports to raise their HDL (the “good” cholesterol) and lower their LDL, or “bad.” While the terms can be difficult to remember, many already know that cholesterol levels need to be controlled to improve heart health and overall wellness.
To do this, many are watching their diets while also checking with a health care professional for the best strategies. But for many, maintaining a healthy cholesterol level is difficult and often expensive. Prescription treatments for cholesterol can cost several hundred dollars per month, by some estimates.
In response to these concerns, Mosaic Nutraceuticals, a Dallas-based company, has come up with a way to address the cholesterol issue. Wrapped in a soft candy chew, “Lipotrene,” Mosaic’s aid in promoting cholesterol health, is an option for those wanting to control their cholesterol without pills or expensive prescriptions.
“People have to watch their cholesterol in order to maintain good heart health. People also like candy,” said Charles Townsend, chief executive officer of Mosaic. “We took these two issues and combined them into Lipotrene, which is loaded with the natural cholesterol control agent Policosanol.”

Sound absorbing objects are necessary to dampen the sound waves and interrupt their transmission. Some common objects used include installing a second wall, heavy curtains, soundproof windows, and fabrics such as wool. Acoustical blankets can be attached to the walls, creating the same effect.
How acoustical foam works
This material is used to help the sounds within a studio, not to soundproof the room. It is often used by people creating a home studio or home theater for better sound within the room. For best results, it must be spaced properly. Spacing of at least two inches away from the wall is the best for increasing absorption. A wood frame is most commonly used for attaching the foam.
Foam works best for absorbing high and mid frequency sound waves. Low frequency sounds are more difficult to absorb. These products are rated based on the lowest frequency they are capable of absorbing. This range is based on the thickness of the foam.
Thicker foam is more absorbent and more effective for a wider range of sound waves. These products are available in thicknesses ranging from one to four inches. The thicker the foam works with lower frequencies. Look for this information before buying. You will find the price is affected by the thickness of the foam. This is due to material and production costs, which are higher.
Different Types of Soundproofing Foam
A few materials are used in acoustical foam. The most common are polyurethane, melamine and fiberglass. Compressed fiberglass is most often used by professionals. This material has a class 1 rating for fire safety. The higher the safety rating, the more expensive the product. Buy the best quality products you can afford. Look for a class 1 rating. The extra expense is worth your peace of mind.
Polyurethane is the least expensive type on the market. Unfortunately, most products made with this substance have the lowest rating for fire safety, a class 3 rating. In some areas, polyurethane wont pass safety inspections. If you must use this material, make sure you have sufficient fire exits in the room. Better yet, save your money and wait until you can afford a better quality product.
These products are sound absorbers and are used to muffle sound waves in the insulation. Foam used in soundproofing is porous. This helps the foam absorb the sound waves. The more porous, the more efficient the product will be for sound absorption.
Foam is applied in various ways, depending on the product. The most common and easy to use is foam in the form of sheets, similar to attic insulating products. This can be cut to the size you need with scissors. Some varieties can be sprayed or blown in between walls, ceiling tiles or flooring. Foam under thick carpeting is sufficient for floor insulation.
Safe use of acoustical foam
Acoustical foam is rated for fire resistance. Cheap polyurethane foams are not fireproof can be hazardous in the event of a fire. Polyurethane has an added drawback in a fire. This foam releases dangerous fumes into the air during a fire. Inhaling these fumes is more dangerous than inhaling the smoke from the fire. All fire resistant products produce these fumes, as a result of chemicals used to make the fabrics fire resistant.
Melamine is used as a foam substitute; it is ceramic based. This material is used in class 1 ceiling tiles. It has high sound absorption properties and works well as soundproofing material. Melamine bends and curves easily, making it very workable for custom fitting necessary for some situations. This product is significantly more expensive than polyurethane, costing as much as double.
Commercial grade products are usually made with compressed fiberglass. This material is made with sand and doesnt burn. In terms of safety, this is the best. Just about all products made with fiber glass have the highest rating in terms of safety.

Every so often, people working in a big company feel that the internal corporate bureaucracy is too much to handle. In some cases, the bureaucracy can be perceived as a catch-22, which may or may not be entirely accurate. To prevent the sort of paranoia this tends to bring, it is best that employees regularly find ways to relieve stress and feel totally separated from the bureacracy.

Corporate life can take a serious toll on the mind, particularly if you happen to be the one caught amidst the company’s hustle and bustle. There are a thousand things that need to be done any given shift, and you’d need at least a shift just to get one of those tasks to be done properly. There are also the occasional added duties of the typical employee, such as the meeting with the boss, rant sessions with fellow employees, and the pressures and responsibilities that the typical worker adds to his already overwhelming set of problems. The need for stress relief is most commonly seen among people who are doing the dry grunt-work of a company, the ones working the trenches at the front lines of the “corporate war.”
Of course, a company employee may not necessarily be fighting a “war” against the company’s enemies, or business rivals, as the case may be. For anyone who has ever read the novel “Catch-22,” the rather daunting concept of a soldier fighting the rigid bureaucracy of his own army is a humorous, unpleasant yet all too realistic storyline. Unfortunately, for some corporate employees, the Catch-22 is an everyday ordeal. They find themselves willing to fight even their own corporate bosses. Even worse is when there is no convenient or regular source of stress relief, which tends to wear down a person’s mind and makes the situation much worse. Once a person thinks the situation is getting worse, it inevitably really does become worse, through some dismiss it as a mere quirk of fate. Yes, this sounds terribly pessimistic, but there are several people who go to their jobs day after day — resigned to go through the daily drudgery.
The fact is, there are always a few disgruntled, disenfranchised, and disillusioned employees who will look at the corporate power structure and only see the Catch-22 bureaucracy. They literally see policies leading them around in circles, with stress relief being just a pipe dream — with each step leading to the path of madness. Of course, madness is not included as a job skill requirement although in some lines of work that involve creativity, being somewhat “looney” is an unwritten prerequisite.
Dealing with a Catch-22 bureaucracy can be taxing on your mental health, whether you’re fighting it or you’re trying to work with it. There is ample anecdotal evidence to show that attempting to work within a bureaucracy that keeps on going around in circles can drive employees to develop frequent bouts of nausea. Besides the nausea, chronic fatigue also seems to be a growing problem among employees that attempt to survive in a Catch-22 environment. Mental fatigue is also a problem, as some people tend to spend hours upon hours trying to figure out how to get out of the mess that the company’s policies have gotten them into, all the while realizing that any attempt to get out is likely just going to get them deeper into the problem.
Naturally, from a realistic point of view, the above situation is hardly feasible, but if work-related stress and anxiety are not dealt with in a timely and effective manner, it can lead to some unpleasant situations. For the most part, the common reaction when the situations get extreme is to simply try and find a way to escape, or at least get into a position where the bureaucracy is less constrained. In a corporate environment, the former is little more than just removing yourself from the company’s employ, and the latter means working within the constraints to get into a position of power. Of course, working twice as hard just to get away from the bureaucracy means the company will be getting more work out of an employee, but not have to pay more. Why does that sound like exactly what your typical corporate slave driver actually wants? If it does start sounding that way, then it is a safe assumption that your stress and anxiety at work has gone past being an anxiety disorder and developed into a full-blown paranoia. Next thing you know, you’ll start thinking they’re all out to get rid of you.
