Manual Spy Bot Removal > SpyBlast
SpyBlast is a program that claims to detect intrusion attempts. (It may even do this; I was unable to check as it would not work for me.)
Distribution
Installed by ActiveX drive-by download, thought to be in pop-up adverts. The official site also encourages one to download it using the hoary old Internet Explorer trick of including a frame pointing at your C: drive.
Advertising
Yes. Opens pop-up ads periodically.
Privacy violation
None known.
Security issues
Unknown.
Stability problems
No.
Removal
Open the Downloaded Program Files folder in the Windows folder, right-click the entry 'SBFullInst Control' and choose 'Remove'. Next, open the registry (click 'Start', choose 'Run' and enter 'regedit') and find the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. Delete the 'SpyBlast' entry.
Restart the computer and you should be able to delete the 'SpyBlast' folder inside Program Files.
