Americans everywhere are spending more time at home. Because of this, they are looking for creative ways to expand their current space by investing in “outdoor living rooms.” Creating outdoor living areas can be a cost-effective way to enhance both the beauty and functionality of your yard and home, make more livable space and increase the value of your home. Try the following simple tips to revamp and grow your living space:
Create different rooms
We are used to having our homes divided into rooms, but rarely take this approach to our outdoor spaces. But dividing up your yard can actually help to maximize your enjoyment of it. Look at the available space and designate one area for play, one for dining and socializing, and another for relaxing. Then decorate accordingly!
Focus on quality
When embarking on any renovation project, make selections that will maintain and perform in the long-term. For example, if you are building a deck, using Symmatrix™ Composite Decking means your deck will stand up to the elements for years without cracking, splitting or warping. And it requires no sealing or staining, so maintaining it requires little effort on your part!
Set the mood with color
Just as you would with an indoor room, you can use color to decorate outdoors. In fact, applying color theory when selecting plants and flower arrangements can influence the mood and personality of a space. For example, while earth tones are appropriate for a relaxation corner, bright colors like pink and red are ideal in areas used for play. If you’re building a patio or deck, select a base color that matches your home, but allows for flexibility in design.
Get the most for your money
You want to enjoy your home, but you also want to see it increase in value over time. So when it comes to making big decisions, such as the addition of a deck or pool, research the dollar value that element will bring. For example, according to Replacement Contractor, installing a deck provides the second highest return on investment for homeowners-over 90 percent on average after the first year of installation.
Use your space!
Why limit the time you spend outdoors to the summertime? Even in colder climates, accessories are available that can extend the use of your outdoor space to other times of year. Electric heaters, outdoor fireplaces and fire pits are accessories that will keep you warm through late fall and into early spring.

What is latex:
Latex is a natural substance found in nature that comes from the rubber tree. The milky white fluid is drained from the tree and when this is left to dry it becomes sticky and gooey. Several chemicals are added into the rubber to make the latex used for latex gloves.
Allergic reactions to latex:
Allergic reactions to latex are quite common. Some common reactions to latex are:
Red rashes
Itching
Swelling
Eye and nose irritation
Shortness of breath
Shock and seizures
Latex allergies should be taken seriously and preventative steps should be taken. An allergic reaction can come on suddenly even if you have been tested negative for latex allergies. Latex allergies are caused by proteins in natural rubber and the chemical process used to make latex gloves. For people who have allergies we recommend using a non latex alternative such as nitrile.
Where are latex gloves used:
Latex gloves are used common place in hospitals and medical facilities as a barrier against bacteria and viruses. The more we discover how illnesses are passed from person to person the more precautious our society has become. It is now common place for latex gloves to be used in food preparation, food handling and any service where contact is made from person to person where there is a chance for the transfer on infection and disease. As a precaution against the spread of malicious bacteria and viruses US Postal service employees use gloves while handling our mail. Auto technicians use gloves to prevent oil and grease from being in contact with the skin, this makes for easy cleanup and prevents harmful chemicals from penetrating the skin.

A Vacuum cleaner is a labor saving device. It is a common household appliance used for cleaning of carpets, sofas, floor, fans, drapes, beds, ceiling etc in homes. It creates a partial vacuum to suck dust, particles, dirt etc. The dirt is collected in a paper bag for later disposal.
The idea for a vacuum cleaner was started by Henry Cecil Booth of England. He first made a vacuum cleaner called the Puffin Billy which was run by a petrol driven piston pump. They were large and bulky and were carried on horse driven carts. The hoses were taken through windows to clean the carpets. These were however not commercially viable. The real break to vacuum cleaners was given by James Spangler who invented a vacuum cleaner from a fan, a box and a pillow case. Spangler sold the patent to William Hoover of England who made it a commercial success. Hoover made a fortune out of the invention. In England the vacuum cleaner is still called a Hoover colloquially.
The vacuum cleaner consists of a motor, a fan and a disposable paper bag along with other necessary assemblies. There are different configurations available.
Cylinder: In this type of vacuum cleaner, the motor, fan and bag are kept in a cylinder which is usually mounted on a wheel trolley. The cylinder is connected to flexible hosepipes. Even though they are not as efficient in cleaning as other models, they are the most popular models in the market.
Upright: This is a push pull configuration mounted on wheels. The motor is housed in a housing over the fan and the bag is mounted on a handle. They usually have rotating brushes at the end of the handle to brush up dust which can be sucked by the hose, hence they tend to be cleaner. These are usually used by people who do not want to bend while cleaning. They are less maneuverable.
Wet Vacuum cleaners: These are special types of vacuum cleaners which can clean spillages also. They have reversible air flow for blowing out obstructions and dust. They are also known as wet vacs.
Centralized Vacuum cleaners: These are housed in the central part of a large building with piping on all floors. The flexible hose can be connected to vacuum points in various parts of the building for cleaning of rooms.
Special Vacuum cleaners: These include robots and hand held cleaners. The robots have obstacle detecting sensors to clean an entire room without human help. Hand help vacuum cleaners are small portable cleaners for clearing of small spills.
Few things are needed to be considered before buying a vacuum cleaner. Amperage is directly related to the power of the vacuum cleaner. Generally the higher the amperage the better performance. Airflow rate in liters/sec, airflow velocity in miles per hour (mph) and suction capacity in Pascal (Pa) are other specifications which need to be considered. Generally the higher these values are the better cleaning the vacuum cleaner provides. One more element to be considered is whether to buy a bag or bagless vacuum cleaner. The bagless vacuum cleaner provides greater suction power and the container has to be cleared into a garbage can periodically.

Every home improvement situation is different. Still, there are some general points that apply to most projects.
Some General Points
When all the woodwork in a house is the same color (cream, white, and off-white work easily), spaces tend to visually flow smoothly even if the walls of rooms are different colors. Make sure you dont break this rule.
The colors of all rooms, which can be seen at the same time, should look good together. Lets take a typical center hall floor plan for a modern two-story house. The living room and dining room are to the right and left of the entrance. The foyer goes straight back to the family room, breakfast area, and kitchen across the back of the house. There is probably a deck opening off that area. Some part of all those areas can be seen from each room, and the foyer walls continue upstairs to a hall from which each bedroom is visible.
To continue our example with cream woodwork, the foyer and halls might be painted a pearl gray, light tan, soft gold, or deeper cream. The woodwork is probably a gloss or semi-gloss and the walls and ceiling a flat paint. Since ceilings reflect light down on people, they’re usually best in cream or off-white. I once saw a dining room with an indirectly lit octagonal tray ceiling painted to look like creamy clouds in a peachy sunset sky that made every dinner guest look like he or she had a perfect complexion. It was wonderful.
The living room opening off our foyer might be a solid color (maybe sage green or deeper tan) or it might look very handsome with a vertically striped wall paper (cream and gray, cream and green, or cream and tan are good possibilities). The dining room is apt to have a chair rail. A darker color could look good below the chair rail (again sage green, gray, gold or tan would work) with a lighter tint of the same color above. If a solid color were chosen for the living room, the dining room could handle a deep red below the chair rail and a cream paper with a narrow red stripe above it. Lots of crystal and mirrors would look terrific in a room like that.
Im sure you get the idea. Todays open floor plans make it important that rooms work together.

Using vinyl gloves is a common practice in any industry where bacteria and viruses can be transmitted. The food service industry is a large user of vinyl gloves because they are very affordable and extremely effective at preventing the spread of germs, bacteria and viruses. Vinyl gloves are economical and stronger than latex gloves. The vinyl used in vinyl gloves is a synthetic polymer than is more resistant to tearing and puncture than latex. Used widely in the food preparation and food handling industries vinyl gloves can give you an almost bare hand feel when grasping items. Unlike latex, vinyl is a synthetic substance that very rarely causes an allergic reaction. Vinyl gloves are also used widely in the cleaning industry as barrier against bacteria and infection in restroom and hazardous biological material cleanup.
Vinyl gloves come in a variety of sizes and come in both powdered and powder free forms. Powder is added to some types of vinyl gloves so that they are easier to put on and the powder can also help in preventing perspiration of the hands. It is an industry wide standard that there are usually 100 gloves per box and the one glove will fit both hands. Glove sizes range from small to medium. Small gloves will fit a hand size of 8 and below. Medium vinyl gloves will fit a hand size of 9. Large vinyl gloves are suited for a hand size of 10 and extra large gloves are to be used for hand sizes of 12 and above.
Vinyl gloves and latex gloves are now being used by the US Postal Service as a precaution against terrorism. Vinyl gloves act as a barrier against viruses, bacteria and germs that could potentially be sent in letters and packages. Overall vinyl gloves are an effective way to stay safe in an unsafe world.

When it comes to outdoor living spaces, people are moving their living areas outside, making decks more popular than ever. Whether your current deck is an extension of your family room, includes an outdoor kitchen or dining area, or boasts a vine-covered arbor for shade, decks are a reflection of America’s desire to be outdoors and connect with nature.
And now Sherwin-Williams can help you spend more time enjoying your deck and less time caring for it. If you’re trying to breathe new life into an old wood deck, a new technology just introduced by Sherwin-Williams can revive even seriously weathered wood. DeckScapes Coating Life Extender literally binds loose wood fibers to form a sound, smooth surface that creates a better bond for your topcoat. It penetrates deep into the wood to provide UV and weather protection. Not only will the wood look better, the protective finish you apply to your deck will last longer as well.
Before you apply any protective coatings, be sure to remove dirt and mildew using a cleaner designed for deck use. After cleaning the deck, Life Extender is easily applied with a brush or roller. Approximately four hours later, you can apply the topcoat-such as DeckScapes Waterborne Semi-transparent or Solid Color Stain-for a finish that will look new for years.
If you have a new deck, start with Life Extender for the best possible protection. Life Extender is also ideal for cedar and redwood decks.
And here’s a tip from the trade: If you want the wood grain of your deck to show, choose a semitransparent stain. If you want more durability and don’t want the grain to show, go with a solid-color stain. Products designed for deck use will beautify and protect your outdoor room for a long time when used correctly.

The modern, environmentally friendly and durable alternative to hardwood is bamboo flooring. Being a grass, as opposed to timber, gives bamboo the edge as not only a building product (being strong and at the same time flexible), but also as a sustainable resource: wood takes approximately 15-20 years to reach maturity, whereas the non-harmful harvesting of bamboo takes a mere 3 to 5 years. Bamboo has traditionally been the material of choice in most of Asia, and it is only recently that its benefits and environmental properties have begun to be utilised more fully in the west.
The growth in popularity in recent years for wood flooring has increased the burden on already stretched timber resources. Bamboo flooring shares many of the properties that attract discerning customers to hardwood; its low maintenance, hard wearing, and looks contemporary while having a timeless appeal; but it is without any of the environmental concerns that are attached to its hardwood counterpart.
Due to its flexibility as a material, bamboo flooring has a broad appeal that can be manipulated to suit a variety of styles. Its range of applications varies from period homes to offices, designer hotels and bars.
As well as being environmentally sound, bamboo flooring is competitively priced and easy to fit. Ease of fitting is always a worry for the prospective purchaser, with bamboo flooring the process has been simplified by the formulation of three different methods:
1) Floating floor: this involves gluing the tongue and groove joints of the bamboo flooring together over an underlay.
2) Secret Nailing: the bamboo floor is secretly nailed down to a wood sub-floor.
3) Gluing down: literally gluing the bamboo floor to a sub-floor.
Each of these methods has its own benefits. More information about Bamboo Flooring can be found at http://www.bambooflooringcompany.com
One concern that has arisen with the implementation of bamboo flooring is regarding the use of Urea Formaldehyde, which is used as a binder or adhesive in the manufacture of bamboo flooring. Using the present technology, its use is unavoidable. However, reputable bamboo flooring suppliers with firm environmental principles, make every effort to ensure that its use conforms to the rigid E-1 European Standards. It is important to stress that exposure to any dangerous chemicals in bamboo flooring is negligible.
The benefits of choosing bamboo flooring are chiefly to found in the warm, comforting ambience it creates. Bamboo flooring immediately draws attention and recognition to a room, giving it character and focus. With its hard wearing properties, environmental benefits and natural beauty, bamboo flooring is the flooring of choice for generations to come.

Despite being the first room that most homeowners see when they enter their houses, the garage is probably the most ignored and least talked-about room when it comes to home improvement.
The typical bland and stained concrete garage floor suffers from years of heavy foot and car traffic. Fortunately, there are ways to make even the most beat-up garages look great-and homeowners can do it themselves. Professional concrete epoxy coatings can revitalize a garage floor, make garage cleanup easier and help prevent the need for future costly floor repairs. Here’s how to restore your floor.
Tools Of The Trade
To restore your garage floor, homeowners will need Quikrete Epoxy Garage Floor Coating Kit (including instructional DVD). This all-in-one, easy-to-use kit beautifies and protects concrete garage floors from hot tires, gasoline, oil, scuffs and wear and tear with a coating twice as strong as concrete. You’ll also need a flat, stiff bristle brush, plastic watering can, garden hose, push broom, a 3/8-inch roller with extension handle, roller tray and a 2-inch, solvent-resistant brush.
What To Do
• Careful preparation of the garage floor is essential for positive end results. Using a push broom, sweep entire area to remove all dust and debris.
• Wet concrete surface, add Bond-Lok concentrate to 3 quarts of water in watering can to degrease, clean and etch in one step.
• Working in sections, sweep watering can back and forth while pouring to ensure proper coverage. Use bristle brush to thoroughly scrub stains and spread cleaner.
• Once each section is cleaned, rinse away dirt with a garden hose. Repeat process until entire surface has been cleaned, following with a final hose down of the garage.
• Wait until concrete is completely dry (at least 4 hours) before epoxy application.
• Combine Part A of product with Part B and allow epoxy to sit for 30 minutes before use.
• Starting at the back of the garage, spread epoxy coating in smooth, even strokes across a 2-by-6-foot area.
• If using color flakes, they must be applied to wet paint. After covering each 2-by-6-foot section with the epoxy coating, lightly sprinkle flakes onto concrete.
• Continue process, working in sections, until entire garage surface is covered.
• Allow epoxy to harden for 12 to 24 hours before light foot traffic and 72 hours for automobile traffic.

All across the country there is an increasing emphasis placed on early learning. Parents in California Schools desire preparation for their children at younger ages for the academics and atmosphere of school. California Schools have implemented initiatives to ensure that preparation. The First 5 California School Readiness Initiative has garnered support from the large state since its beginning in 2002 and was granted $206 million to fund programs that help transition young children into the school system.
The First 5 Initiative of California Schools focused on early care and education, parenting and support services, health and social services, school readiness for children/school capacity, and program infrastructure, administration and evaluation. Ending in 2006, this initiative completed its purpose and was followed by other California School readiness initiatives. California Schools are invested in the idea that preschools have tremendous influence and power.
The First 5 Initiative Of California Schools has formulated a task force that also branches into other areas of student help. California Schools have earned an A on their childhood obesity report cards, owing in part to the California First 5 obesity prevention campaign. The group constructed ads targeting parents and warning of the dangers accompanying obesity. Physical education programs have become more prominent in California Schools in keeping with the struggle against obesity, particularly in young children. First 5 California is attempting to stop the obesity trend in California Schools through student, parent and community awareness.
In the hopes that children of migrant workers might receive equally well-grounded educations in California Schools, the California First 5 has undertaken the challenge of funding the California First 5 Children of Migrant and Seasonal Farm Workers project, which has targeted 3 and 4 year old children since its inception in 2003. This program helps struggling families in California Schools receive educational childcare, enroll more students, find transportation and improve test scores.
In October 2005, California First 5 found that a serious percentage of students entering kindergarten lack the necessary skills to succeed in California Schools. In an effort to allow children the chance to begin on equal footing in grade school, the California First 5 has acknowledged that all previous student preparation is simply the groundwork of what must eventually be achieved. California Schools’ children who participate in early childhood programs are more successful than those children that don’t. Therefore, the California First 5 has doubled their dedication and hopes to alert more parents to the seriousness of childhood education. California First 5 encourages parents to read regularly to their children and be aware of the benefits of preschool.
California Schools recognize the geographic sprawl of their state. In order to unify and aid incoming students, progress must be made in the partnership between parents and the school systems. California First 5 works to comprehensively alert parents and makes efforts to keep them aware of urgent trends, such as the youth obesity crisis in America. As shown in the results of past initiatives, California Schools have succeeded in their agendas primarily due to parent involvement and the success of upcoming programs will continue to depend upon parental participation.

Numerous mortgage lenders will assist you in the process of acquiring a pre-qualified and pre-approved home buying application. Of course, your mortgage qualifications will be required by your agent to strengthen your deal in finding and buying a home.
The followings are some things to consider when buying a home:
1. Money
First of all, before buying a home, consider your financial status. Check your credit situation by getting hold of your most recent credit report at the credit center. You should know exactly how much money you have and how much you can afford to spend on a home.
2. Needs Vs Wants
Do not confuse between needs and wants when you can have both. Upon gathering information in buying a home, take into consideration the different types of houses available and decide what you want from what is offered.
3. The Right Agent
If you believe in the comfort and rewards of buying a home, you will need to trust the agent who will do the work for you. In finding a reliable agent you will need to look at many sources of information to determine who represents what. It is always best to compare experiences, backgrounds and referrals of reputable people.
4. Time
Do not expect to find a great home tomorrow if youve only begun your search today. Buying a home is like working on a school project. It needs ample time. If you think youve gathered enough information and resources within your time table, so be it.
5. Cue Cards
You dont want to forget even a single detail about the home youve selected, right? Why not keep little cue cards where the plus & minus on each home or property youve seen is listed and recorded.
6. Points and Plus
Learn how to bargain and get the best possible deal.
7. Word Confusion
Needless to say, when you buy a home you should familiarize yourself with the terms and words used during the dealing and negotiating with your agent and contractor. Also, try to keep a list of the questions you have that need further clarification.
8. Safety and Security
Be sure to get homeowners insurance. It may seem like a lifetime expense, but it will get you continued savings in the long run.
9. Final Check
Do a final inspection or walk-through of the house before settlement and before the contract is processed.
Please do consider the above checklists as helpful factors when you to decide to buy a home. Plan ahead and avoid the common mistakes that most home buyers make.
